Fat Mattresses &nd Golden Underwear

Maurice Malone's first 1-man brand was Fat Mattresses &nd Golden Underwear. It was a menswear collection produced by The Williamsburg Garment Company in 2009. It was a flamboyant merger between streetwear and tailored clothing, which is so popular today.

This collection had ideas so original, many required design patents before release. However, without proper financing, the collection proved too challenging and it was decided it would be better to go in a new direction that the company could afford to develop. In 2011, Williamsburg Garment Company, the denim brand was launched. The cost to develop and bring to market was so much lower, plus it was an easier sell because Maurice Malone was so well respected as a denim designer.

FM&GU used fabric and factories based in Italy for woven shirts and tailored suits. Cashmere sweaters were produced in China.  All artwork by Maurice Malone was created using Adobe Illustrator.
